Services

The facilities of the library are available to staff and students of the university as well as to the general public.

The reading rooms are located in the main building of the University of Applied Arts:
- main reading room (including enquiries and loans): 2nd floor
- periodicals reading room: 1st floor

The materials held by the library can be used in the reading rooms, and most of them may also be borrowed for use at home.

Main reading room
Open shelves: reference works, arranged by classification.
Stock area (not for open access): books and bound periodicals; immediately issued by library staff on request.

Periodicals reading room
Open shelves: current issues/volumes of journals and newspapers, arranged by classification; reference works.
Audio-visual materials are issued and can be used here.

Basement stacks
Materials located in the library’s basement stacks (i.e. infrequently requested items) must be ordered and will be made available for use or borrowing on the following day.

Academic departments
Items that are needed permanently for teaching or research purposes are located in the various departments of the university, including three special collections (history of fashion and costume, restoration and conservation, Clemens Holzmeister Estate). Readers wishing to use such materials are required to place an order in the main reading room (wait up to one week); use in the departments only for academic staff or by appointment.

Searching for literature
For specific literature searching the library provides various catalogues, databases and e-journals, a periodicals database, holding lists of audio-visual materials, and bibliographies. Please contact library staff for assistance.

Technical Equipment
Main reading room: OPAC workstations, printer, photocopier, scanner.
Periodicals reading room: OPAC workstations, CD-ROM workstations, printer, photocopier, scanner, video playback unit, HIFI equipment.
WLAN: available for Angewandte students and staff with valid student- or staff number. For students and staff of other universities access via EDUROAM.
